Let’s get a few things perfectly clear from the get go. When he first
ran for president it was not Obama’s goal to try to spend ourselves out of a
recession. The recession was a gift from George W. Bush and his cronies.
It hit in the final months of the Bush presidency and it was George Bush who
signed the TARP (Troubled Assets Relief Program) agreement in October 2008, not
President Obama so anyone (all Republicans) who accuses Obama of being the
biggest spending president in our History is lying when he includes the TARP
expenditures in Obama’s budget.
Americans elected Obama at a time when he proposed a budget that hinged on a
tax plan that would make only the wealthiest 5 % of Americans pay a tax
increase which when you think about it is more than fair, especially when you
consider they can hire the best accountants and lawyers to get them out of
paying their fair share of taxes in the first place. Obama also promised to
initiate health care reform and a new era of green energy that would produce
millions of jobs in the United States, and when you consider that the U.S.
health care system is the highest priced, most out of control and most
unaffordable system in the entire world one can certainly say that reform has
been way overdue.
Obviously Obama’s well intended programs were destined to enrage a lot of big
money special interests and when big money feels threatened it’s going to gather
it’s forces to purchase millions if not billions of dollars of propaganda to
completely destroy those very forces of change that threaten its obscene
profits. Now just think about exactly which special interests are being
threatened here. When you build green energy powered cars you are threatening
big oil. When you propose changes to a health care industry whose costs are
spinning out of control you are threatening not just the American Medical
Association (AMA), you are also threatening an entire industry of insurance
companies who are worried about losing billions of dollars of business.
And when you propose winding down the war in Iraq which Obama was one of only a
few never to support in the first place, you are threatening a bloated U.S.
military and all those corporations building all that military hardware that is
being used to wage unnecessary wars. Clearly, Obama, had to
go. He was just too far ahead of his time, too much in tune with the middle
class and the poor and too dedicated to what needs to be done at the
expense of all these special interests.
So it was time to roll out the propaganda machine to turn truth onto
its head by blaming Obama for all the out of control spending that
is bankrupting the country.
