I think it is, but
I am letting you decide for yourself. You can find out more
about the video here where I talk about my trials and tribulations.
With the first hurdle being you tube which would have taken this video down
within two minutes due to the licensees of all the bar's background music
claiming copyright infringement against me. Which gave me no choice
other than to put this outstanding video up on my own web site here at
alphapro.com. Was I justified in doing this? I certainly was so
once again, I am inviting you to learn more about how I produced this video,
and what motivated me to go ahead with it, despite knowing only too well
that putting it on You tube was a non starter.
So what makes the Nikki bar such a terrific
bar to visit? First off, if Nikki bar was just like so many
other Pattaya bars, you wouldn't be watching this video right now.
But chances are you know this already.
So I'm going to tell you a few things that you probably don't know.
All of you know that most successfully run
bars have a very compelling owner who has the uncanny knack of
nearly always being in the bar who focuses his attention upon the
wants and needs of his (her) customers. Or if the owner is not
present, the bar's manager, or even the bartender.
So what are the wants and needs of your
typical customer who has so many bars to choose from in the Pattaya
Naklua area? Well, that's a loaded question. There are
the tourists who come here for short visits. And there are the
mongers, who come here primarily to satisfy their carnal needs.
For both there's many bars that will cater to them.
However, there's something like 40,000
expats in the Pattaya-Naklua area who live here full time and return
to their home countries for short periods of time. And most of
these expats have full year retirement visas. Keeping in
mind that one has to be at least fifty years old to get a retirement
visa, your typical expat is no longer a spring chicken. So he
is going to be looking for bars that cater to his tastes.
Nikki Bar happens to be in Naklua, which is
primarily a residential area just north of Pattaya. Many of us
call Naklua Little Germany due to the influx of so many German
retirees. But there are a lot of Americans, Englishmen,
Scotts, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders living here in
Naklua whose native language is English. There's a lot of
French, Swiss, Dutch, Belgian, Yugoslavian, Russian, etc full time
residents here as well.
And what language do most of these full time
residents use to communicate with each other that is most common
among them? English.
Which brings us to Nikki. Nikki has
spent the last seven years of her life travelling all over the
United States selling a whole gamut of items that would appeal to a
huge assortment of potential customers. That's seven years of
perfecting her English skills, sales techniques, and
understanding what makes her American customers tick. Not to
mention the huge differences between Thai and Western cultural
values.
I cannot think of a single Thai woman I've
ever met who has such an outstanding resume that qualifies her for
successfully running a bar here in Thailand where most of her
customers are over fifty year old Western men.
So what do we older Western men want?
I think the single most important thing we want is to relive our
youth. Which is I think the single most important thing that
motivated us to move to Thailand in the first place. We are
all living new lives here. But we also want to remember how we
were when we were much younger men. So although we are living
the fantasy of being constantly with much younger and prettier women
than we would be with in our home countries we will want to think of
ourselves as much younger men.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of
a bar's playing all the old tunes we used to enjoy while we were
much younger men. Or how many bars here play their music for
their bar girls with not a thought of what their customers want to
hear. And how many stupid mamasans and bar owners play their
music for their bar girls. Take what I am constantly calling
Da Da music, which consists of just two beats, louder and louder.
Such electro crap does not qualify as being music at all, and it is
so bad that even 16 year old Americans ever listen to it.
Nicki refrains from playing this kind of
offensive noise for the most part. Because she knows how
offensive it is to her all of us over fifty year old retirees.
So she will play a lot of golden oldies which makes us think of
ourselves in our younger days. A lot of country western too,
which she has learned to appreciate through all her travels in the
American Western and Midwestern states.
And make no mistake, a lot of Germans love
our American country music not to mention all our golden oldies or
old English classics from the Rolling Stones for example.
Because believe it or not, in spite of our having such a lowlife
scum back as Donald Trump for our president, most of the world is
both thrilled and saddened by what goes on in the United States.
But it's not just playing her bar music for
her customers that makes Nikki such an outstanding bar owner.
It is the personal touch she gives her customers. Like her
giving a personal guided tour of Walking Street to two special
American friends of mine. Or my messaging her from the
Seduction bar at 1:00 am while I was enjoying a few drinks with Sam,
the bar's manager. Neither Sam and I were ready to finish the
night off as he was closing his bar at 1 a.m. So on a whim Sam
said to me, let's go to Nikki bar. I have never been to one
Naklua bar. I messaged Nikki, "Will you stay open for us?
And right off she messaged me back, "Sure, I will."
Two hours later while we were drinking with
Nikki, Sam said to Nikki and me, "Now this is number one service.
We are your customers and here you are staying with us until 3 a.m."
Watch the video and you will totally
understand what separates Nikki bar from so many other Pattaya
Naklua Bars. At the end of the video an Australian in his late
sixties or early seventies is dancing on a single leg to YMCA, a
golden oldie from the 1980's as the two spectacular show girls Nikki
hired to her Halloween party make the Australian the focus of their
attention.
I was very fortunate to have a long talk
with the Australian who's lived all over Thailand and learned Thai
much better than I ever could. Who still drives his pickup all
over the country on his endless quest of adventure, but that night,
he saw himself when he was a far younger man before losing his leg.
Which says all that needs to be said about our living new lives
while still wanting to relive our much younger days.
