The Republican bums are responsible for our out of control deficit, they are lying
about it.
And they aren’t doing anything about the mess they’ve created.
by Jack Corbett
Almost all countries pay taxes or buy
bonds to wage war, including the U.S. And then came the Republicans led by
George W. Bush and his minions who passed two tax decreases while leading the
country into two wars.
Sure,
many Democrats joined in the fiscal carnage that blew out of control during the
George W. Bush years but since it became the party of No to anything either
constructive or ill-conceived by our president with EVERY Republican Congressman
joining in lockstep for the sole purpose of destroying Obama’s
presidency I’m sure that it is completely fair to blame our present economic
catastrophe entirely upon them.
Let’s get a few things perfectly clear from the get go. When he first
ran for president it was not Obama’s goal to try to spend ourselves out of a
recession. The recession was a gift from George W. Bush and his cronies.
It hit in the final months of the Bush presidency and it was George Bush who
signed the TARP (Troubled Assets Relief Program) agreement in October 2008, not
President Obama so anyone (all Republicans) who accuses Obama of being the
biggest spending president in our History is lying when he includes the TARP
expenditures in Obama’s budget.
Americans elected Obama at a time when he proposed a budget that hinged on a
tax plan that would make only the wealthiest 5 % of Americans pay a tax
increase which when you think about it is more than fair, especially when you
consider they can hire the best accountants and lawyers to get them out of
paying their fair share of taxes in the first place. Obama also promised to
initiate health care reform and a new era of green energy that would produce
millions of jobs in the United States, and when you consider that the U.S.
health care system is the highest priced, most out of control and most
unaffordable system in the entire world one can certainly say that reform has
been way overdue.
Obviously Obama’s well intended programs were destined to enrage a lot of big
money special interests and when big money feels threatened it’s going to gather
it’s forces to purchase millions if not billions of dollars of propaganda to
completely destroy those very forces of change that threaten its obscene
profits. Now just think about exactly which special interests are being
threatened here. When you build green energy powered cars you are threatening
big oil. When you propose changes to a health care industry whose costs are
spinning out of control you are threatening not just the American Medical
Association (AMA), you are also threatening an entire industry of insurance
companies who are worried about losing billions of dollars of business.
And when you propose winding down the war in Iraq which Obama was one of only a
few never to support in the first place, you are threatening a bloated U.S.
military and all those corporations building all that military hardware that is
being used to wage unnecessary wars. Clearly, Obama, had to
go. He was just too far ahead of his time, too much in tune with the middle
class and the poor and too dedicated to what needs to be done at the
expense of all these special interests.
So it was time to roll out the propaganda machine to turn truth onto
its head by blaming Obama for all the out of control spending that
is bankrupting the country.
The Truth
Almost all nations including our own pay their own war
bills. Only the Republicans deny this and they claim it's the Democrats
and Obama who are looking for a free ride?
Never in our nation’s history did we go to war without funding it. For
instance on January 10, 1967 President Lyndon Johnson asked for more funding for
the Vietnam War which means during the 1960's Congress and most Americans
believed it was ill-advised to go to war without having to pay for it
http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/johnson-asks-for-more-funding-for-vietnam-war
During World War II Americans paid a higher share of their income than any other
time in our History. Americans also financed our war effort by buying billions
of dollars of war bonds. In World War I such war bonds were called Liberty Bonds
while our neighbors to the North bought Canadian war bonds called "Victory
bonds". Only someone as short sighted as George Bush could go to war without
having to pay for it.
Now Republicans would like for us all to think that it’s Mr. Obama who is the
profligate spender while theirs is the voice of reason and moderation. On
October 2nd, 2002 Obama spoke out against the war in Iraq at a
Chicago anti war rally while running for the U.S. Senate on the very day that
President George Busch and the U.S. Congress agreed on a joint resolution
authorizing the war
Clearly had Obama been our president then instead of G.W. Bush there never
would have been a war in Iraq. He was one of a select few of
our policy makers who was smart and responsible enough to speak out against
getting mired down into such a hopeless, costly foreign venture.
But let’s turn the clock back just a little further. In November 2000 G. W. Bush
won the presidential election against Al Gore who was Vice President serving
under President Bill Clinton. The election was so close that it had to be
decided by the U.S. Supreme Court which ruled in favor of Bush after the Florida
votes had to be recounted under dubious circumstances
in spite of the fact that over 500,000 more Americans had voted for the Democrat
over the Republican. The
decision would prove to be devastating to the U.S. and its economy.
The Propaganda Machine
Of course none of this never happened. Just listen to Fox News for example.
It’s all Mr. Obama’s fault. But as we have seen recently Rupert Murdoch
empire’s world wide media network’s integrity has taken a huge hit since July
2011 when its "News of the World" started facing accusations that it has hacked
the telephones of private citizens in the U.K. which almost immediately spilled
over to the U.S. where Murdock is currently being investigated by the F.B.I. for
bribery and corruption.
Although Murdoch’s success at improving the ratings of his media companies
cannot be faulted, his integrity not to mention the integrity of his employees
certainly can. As for the Fox News slogan of being "Fair and Balanced" only one
name, aside from Murdoch’s, needs to be mentioned, and that’s its president's,
Roger Ailes. Roger Ailes was media consultant for presidents Richard
Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush as well as Rudy Giuliani’s first mayoral
campaign in 1989–all Republicans.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_AilesAlthough Fox News might be entertaining, there can be no question of where
its political affiliations lie or of its lack of respect for the truth. To name
just one example, I remember when Obama was debating John McCain on the eve of
the 2008 presidential election. All the other television networks were claiming
that their respondents had voted something like 80 percent in favor of Obama’s
decisively winning one of the debates over McCain whereas Fox News claimed
the exact opposite by claiming 80 percent for McCain versus only 20 percent for
Obama.
Fox News seems to have one goal and one goal only and that is to advance the
goals and candidates of the Republican Party at all costs and this means
absolutely crushing President Obama at every opportunity. And if there’s any
doubt of that, just remember all those billions of dollars the special interest
groups have at their disposal to ensure the defeat of perhaps the most dangerous
political candidate they have ever had to face–a man of supreme intellect,
tremendous oratorical skill with the charisma to transcend racial and cultural
boundaries who even worse for them seems to have his heart in the right place.
Don’t think that all those internet emails and web sites that claim Obama is
a Muslim or a racist Christian are all mere accidents. There can be no doubt
that a large percentage of them have been inspired and financed by all those
special interest groups that see Obama as their greatest enemy so they tap into
all that latent racism that still exists deep in the hard hearts of many
Americans who will never admit they hate Obama because he’s half black because
it's simply not politically correct to admit, "I hate blacks". But
they certainly can admit to hating Obama because he’s a Muslim, or a Reverend
Wright following Christian racist or because he never was born in the U.S.,
therefore cannot serve as our president and consequently not qualified to
lead the nation. This is all part of a dirty tricks package that’s been created
with one intent only and that’s to completely destroy a promising presidency so
that the other side can take power at all costs.
So where are we now?
Well, for one thing before the last presidential election I wrote my U.S.
Congressman, a man I personally knew and liked that if he didn’t stop voting
"No" in lockstep with his fellow Republicans against anything and everything
Obama was in favor of that I’d for the first time vote a straight Democratic
ticket which meant my voting against him. Well, he’s still voting as part of a
100 % unified block against everything that our president is in favor of,
So what do all these Republicans want? They want one thing–power and if that
means to hell with the country, so be it. They have pledged themselves to the
defeat of our president in the next election. That means doing everything in
their power to ensure the complete failure of his presidency and along with him
the country as well. We are on the eve of a default of the United States to pay
its obligations. This means as of August 2nd if a deal is not made
that will result in at least a temporary mandate to raise our debt ceiling that
our government will stop working. This means no more social security checks will
be sent out for example. It means the closing of the U.S. Post Office. It will
lead to a rise in the interest rates our country which the rest of us must pay
in order to borrow and that means even more national debt accompanied by U.S.
businesses finding it even more difficult and more expensive to borrow all
resulting in an additional loss of hundreds of thousands of more jobs.
If only we could turn back the clock to the 2000 presidential
election and had elected Al Gore instead of George W. Bush and
all his minions there would never have been a war in Iraq and we’d
probably already have seen the entire U.S. National debt paid off in
full as a result of a continuing round of annual surpluses created
by our nation's being able to save more than it is spending. We’d
already be experiencing a new era of green energy fostered by made
in American green energy technologies. The country would have been
made safe again for retired people and for those who had the pure
bad luck of being born disadvantaged. As for the Republicans of
today, they want to fool the rest of us into following their program
that led us to this fiscal disaster in the first place. It did not
work before and it will not work now. In the meantime they are
selling out their country while lying that it’s the other side
that’s at fault. Since all of them are in the same can of
worms 100 percent united to a man towards toppling this
administration at any costs, I urge all of you to pledge:
"The only good Republican is one who’s out of office" and to throw
the bums out on the street where they belong
