Greg's Kitchen still unsurpassed meets Drinking Street Night Life Greg's Kitchen still unsurpassed but now customers can have some of Thailand's best bars next door.
Think about it--there's over twenty bars here in a single complex and the bar girls are getting hotter each time we come. But I'm sure most of them have no clue on what's in store for them at Greg's Kitchen. The decor's solidly English and so its it owner who had been a London chef before moving to this land of milk and honey. I have known Greg very well for over eight years now starting with when his restaurant was just two doors down from my lodging where I stayed 11 months waiting for my condo to be finished. I've probably tried every dish on Greg's menu, and although one might call his place an English restaurant, Greg prefers to call his cuisine Continental. For example, the Hungarian Goulash is certainly not English nor are his pastas or pizza and Wienerscnitzel is best spoken with a German accent. But my girlfriend who's Thai and a wonderful cook says Greg's Thai food (usually prepared by Greg's Thai wife) is absolutely first rate. But the best news yet is Greg's prices have gone down significantly since he's moved his restaurant to Drinking Street. It used to be that a meat pie or Goulash was 300 baht, but now that's gone down to around 240. And I do remember paying something like 100 baht for a bottle of Heineken, but now Greg's offering Happy Hour prices at 60 baht for a bottle beer from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. But I must warn you that his dinners are HUGE so if you get one of his meat pies for example or his Cornish Pastry, you will be getting a large helping of vegetables with your pie along with your choice of potatoes from eight different styles. Personally I prefer the Hunter potatoes which has pieces of bacon intertwined in the potatoes. The whole thing fills up your whole plate and that just might not leave a lot of room for your beer. Lately I've discovered Greg's Cherry Pie and Ice Cream. The ice cream's thick and it's kind of an orangy yellow color. It's really addicting. All in all it's hard to beat having dinner at Greg's and then walking just a few steps to any one of Drinking Street's bars. Some of the Thai girls here are stupendous and when you watch the likes of Sizzling Kwan and her older sister Mam, dancing, you just might find it extremely difficult to find their match anywhere on Walking Street.
