To pay tribute to Oliver Cheatham watch it when it comes back to Netflix. Especially the sensational dance scene to Get Down Saturday Night.By Jack Corbett
Mali and Mew with the blueberry cheesecake I brought from theCentara Grand Mirage Resort.
Ex Machina is the kind of movie you will want to revisit. Because although it shows what could happen if Artificial intelligence goes too far. The silver lining to the movie is theriveting dance performances to Get Down Saturday Night by Sonoya Mizuno and Oscar Issac When I saw it, I started planning on bringing it to Pattaya's bars. But only if I could find a Thai lady who could give my tribute to Oliver Cheatham the justice it deserved. Which is a pretty tall order since Sonoya and Oscar are professionals of the highest caliber.
Of all the Thai ladies I knew, I felt only Mew could play the part.
After all, Mew had won 4000 baht to take first place in the First Pattaya Dancing Queen competition. Which she followed up by getting a unanimous decision from all 5 judges in the second Pattaya Dancing Queen competition. Then Mew and I went to Pattaya Walking Street's two hottest go-go bars where we challenged the mamasans to produce worthy contestants who would felt it would be worthwhile to compete for 20000 baht (which is around $600 U.S.). But no one showed up. Apparently, all the g- go dancers thought their dancing skills were not up to Pattaya Dancing Queen standards. Or they were too lazy to even try. Enough said for go-go bars. Mew wound up winning 20000 baht while Nikky Bar's Mimi finished second for a cool 15000 baht.
