The Park Beach condo bar here at Wongamat Beach, is worthy of a movie that capitalizes on the lives of the world famous and the superrich. 

This fantastical setting is one of the reasons Anne's Nitnoi Bar is a few notches above the rest.

Imagine walking into a large atrium built  in the classic Greek revival style with large Corinthian columns surrounding you.  Immediately you are struck by one of the coolest breezes the entire Pattaya Gulf of Thailand coastline has to offer.  But you expect the wind in your face off the sea.  But what you do not expect is how this breeze is amplified by the open 30 story high atrium that has been turned into a gigantic  funnel.  Looking straight ahead as you walk upon the tiled floors of this immense entryway is a concrete lined pool lined  stocked with multi-colored carp, some of them weighing as much as twenty pounds.  The pool must be thirty feet by 100 feet long, but there is another much larger pool off to your left.  Surrounding the two pools are lush plants of varying sizes.

It is here that you will turn right whether it's to get a massage or to have a drink at Anne's Nitnoi Bar.  It's a small bar but it's here that several of Anne's girls perform Thai food massages, manicures. and pedicures.  At the end of the bar is a spiral staircase to the upstairs.  Here there are several thin mattresses on the floor  and a bathroom  where you can take a shower before getting your massage.  This upstairs is reserved for those getting Thai massages or oil massages.

It costs just 150 baht or $3.75 for a traditional Thai massage and that buys you an awful lot.  For one hour you get a woman's 100 percent attention span as she kneads your leg muscles after she first starts on your toes before continuing on with your feet.  And that is the one of the great things about it because what you are getting is a woman's total concentration on you, of making you feel good, which is something you are never going to get back in the United States or the United Kingdom or wherever it is in the West that you have come from.  Your massage starts when  you lie on your back and stretch out your legs.  Your masseuse then works her way upwards to your thighs before she continues on to your hands and arms.  After about a half hour it is time  for you to turn over and lie on your stomach.  This is the best part of the massage or at least it is for me.  The masseuse continues the massage by working over the backs of our calves, the upper backs of your legs, and then she gets to the master control center of your central nervous system, the spine.  Sometimes she will walk up and down your back.  But each girl is different for each one has a unique technique of her own.  Here at Anne's you can get it either soft or hard, depending upon how much you think your back can handle.   I've often seen my friends fall asleep during these massages.  However, you can elect to ask for a two hour instead of one hour massage.  And trust me, there is nothing quite like getting a Thai massage whether it's for one or two hours with one or more of your buddies lying on his thin mattress close while shooting the bull together. 

The purpose of the back part of the massage is to stretch out that space between one's vertebrae.  As one gets on in years that space which had once been filled with a thick padding of cartilage has been narrowed to practically nothing with most of the cartilage gone.  So what happens is nerves are constantly being scrapped as the spine is manipulated by one's everyday activities.  By getting a competent Thai massage the stretching of the cavity and cartilage between the vertebrae can make a huge difference in one's overall health and how much pain one has to settle for. 

At a place like Anne's the Thai massage offers such a complete manipulation of one's overall body that I feel there has to be a tremendous improvement in one's overall circulation.  And although I'm no doctor, if more people had the opportunity to get affordable massages of this caliber, I'm sure that many strokes could be avoided.

But Anne also doubles as a man's bartender.  Well, you know what they always said about good bartenders.  One confesses all to one's bartender while asking for sound advice.  And although Anne is a woman and Thai at that--meaning she's of a culture that is almost completely alien to ours, Anne still embodies those rare attributes found in only the best bartenders we have found in the West, all of which combine to form that  unique ability to make the bar's patrons feel at home.

Well two nights ago, Anne had another party at her bar.  And when Anne's giving a party, and you are one of her regular customers, she's going to call you to tell you all about the party.  There was a good crowd at the Nitnoi Bar last Saturday night during this party, and like most of Anne's parties her guests reflected the various nationalities represented by the men and women drinking here tonight.   There were a number of Englishman here, although one Scotsman and one Irishman would debate that point.  There were two men from the Czech Republic, a handful of Americans, two Frenchman, at least one Dutchman, and a German or two.  But I think all of the women were Thai, with several good lookers among them.
