September 2002 Key events for feature entertainers and topless dancers
Note--These events occurred years ago. But they still are good examples of the kinds of events you should be participating in, that is, unless you want to remain a house dancer until you are old and decrepit
Mustang Sallys Teenie Weenie Wild Bikini Contest------October 4th. Contest is to be held at 12 Midnight. Winner will receive $1,000 in cash, Cover and centerfold in upcoming "Wild Times Magazine". Complimentary portfolio by "Wild Times". $300 in clothing, shoes and accessories from "Stepping Out". Numerous gifts and prizes for the top 10 finalists provided by Dr. John's Lingerie and Novelty Store. Attention Ladies, this will be a fun but serious contest. 50 % of your score will come from a panel of professional non-biased judges and the other 50 % will come from audience appeal. So Ladies, bring your fan club as they can help you win. This contest will also be promoted through radio advertisement and a live remote is scheduled for the night of the contest. All contestants must be 21 to enter (copy of photo ID required). All contestants must have entry form as well as cue card signed and returned NO later than September 27th along with a $25.00 entry fee). Cue cards will be available when entry form is completed). All contestants must agree to photos taken during and after contest as well as additional photo shoot for promotional purposes. What is a Feature Talent Showcase? Talent Agencies will often showcase several or more of their feature entertainers at a hosting club which will benefit from the increased traffic the feature entertainers provide. These clubs are often club chains which can further benefit from the close look they will get of the visiting features some of whom they will book for their own featured events. Features typically pay their own travel and other expenses to these feature showcases, gambling that they will be able to line up roadtrips with the visiting club owners and managers they will be meeting and dancing for at the hosting club. So why should some of you housedancers be interested in a feature showcase? Simple...You will have the chance to meet the owners or chief talent scout of the agency close and personal. In the middle of November, 2001 I was Pure Talent's photographer at their Feature Showcase at Regina's in Springfield, Missouri. Ten to fifteen club owners showed up to watch the features perform here and every club made at least one booking. A house dancer from one of the St Louis Metro East Clubs followed me to the event. She was able to meet the owners of Pure Talent and the club allowed her to do a special set for them. Some of the Regina's house dancers interested in featuring were able to meet the owners of the agency and have special photography done both for the agency and magazines catering to the exotic dancing industry.
