October 2011: Pattaya Wongamat Beach
Moves Upscale
Pattaya Wongamat Beach is evolving into one of Thailand's most exclusive residential areas.
The Looking Glass Magazine Predicts you won't even recognize it in 5
years.

Just consider that within a single quarter mile stretch along Soi Wongamat we have seen the completion of
North Point's 54 and 46 level luxury condominium towers, the 18 story Cove and
the 550 unit five star Centara Hotel and you will begin to understand just how
fast Pattaya's Wongamat Beach is evolving into one of Thailand's most exclusive
residential areas. It used to be that one could look North
from Pattaya, see a few white sky scrapers gleaming in the sun, and
set out to explore Pattaya's most up and coming developing community
and find very little traffic. The tallest building was Sky
Beach condo with its 42 levels and the next two were its sister
condos Park Beach and Silver Beach at 30 and 25 stories each.
Then Raimon Land started its North Point twin tower project.
Not long afterwards the world economy plummeted, and the entire
North Point Project seemed to go slow motion. Then
construction started to get underway for the Cove, the Centara
Hotel, the Sanctuary Condominium project to the North, a couple
more thirty story buildings and an entire host of smaller projects.
Where there used to be just two Family Marts there are now four
along with a 7-11 and a small Lotus supermarket, the traffic has
become much more hectic, and now that North Point, Centara and the
Cove are finished, Raimon Land has rolled out plans for its new Zire
Condominium project right up next to North Point's existing twin towers
with still two new towers 37 and 54 stories high. So
what gives--I thought we were in the middle of a world wide
recession? A closer look at three of the biggest, best
financed, and most luxurious projects might give us a clue, these
being the Centara Hotel, North Point, and the Cove.
