Great music in a bar transcends everything. That’s why I am focusing on the Spot Bar here on Pattaya’s iconic Soi Six.
Focusing on the Spot Bar, what separates the Spot from most bars in Pattaya is, it hires its own DJ, and that’s Silent Bob.
In my opinion, and in Mali’s as well. Soi Six is Pattaya’s most iconic street. There are those who might disagree with me. Who claim for the most part that Walking Street is Pattaya’s most well-known street. And the one tourists visit the most often. But Walking Street is a shadow of its former self. And if you would ask Mali, Walking Street is very expensive. Drinks are much higher prices there. While the barfines are outrageous. As for the cost of taking a girl short time or long time, a man’s gotta be paying 3000 baht and upwards.
Furthermore, if you ask Mali, you are going to find the prettiest women on Soi Six. Which has nearly 100 bars in one city block and something like 1000 bar girls.
But as good as Soi Six is, it suffers from one fatal flaw. Over 75 percent of its bars has the most godawful music in the world.
I call such godawful music da-da music. Because it consists of only two beats, DA and Da. Which is played in only a few tones. That amounts to loud and louder. (da, DA. DA DA, da) Da da is played at varying speeds. Slowly as in Daaaaaaa-Daaaaaaaa-Daaaaaa or fast such as DA:DADADA.
Da Da’s for morons. Which most bar girls are. But not all of them Thank God.
Unfortunately, most Falang owned or falang managed bars allow their bar girls to control the music.
For the most part those bars owned by Germans don’t. And the reason is, Germans are Germans. Who as a nationality refuse to put up with a lot of nonsense. I also find for the most part that bars that are owned by Thais do not allow their bar girls to play Da Da. And the reason for this is that Thai bar girls tend to respect Thais who are older or who they consider wealthier than they are.
I will now start focusing on the Spot Bar and explain how its owner and its manager stop their bar girls from controlling the bar’s music. Or a cashier or mamasan for that matter.
The Spot Bar employs its own DJ almost every night the bars open. And that DJ happens to be Silent Bob. Who is English and who is not very silent at all. And when Bob is working, no one, and I do mean no one is allowed to touch his equipment. Bob knows music. So, he knows da da is nothing other than electronic noise. And plays it only when a customer of extremely bad taste twists his arm to do it.
You will also find for the most part a better breed of customers at the Spot Bar than you are going to find in most other bars on Soi Six.
Most of my friends won’t come anywhere near those Soi Six bars that play a lot of da da.. Come to think of it most of them stay far away from Soi Six which they consider too unruly, loud and too crowded. for human life to endure for more than 30 minutes. Tops.
But I am a lot more like Mali. Who finds Soi Six to be hugely entertaining while having the best selection of pretty ladies in Pattaya. But I despise da da music so much. And those bars playing it. That I am going to be a lot more selective in which bars I will be visiting.
