Believe it or not, the Exotic Dancer Expo is the big event for strippers, topless clubs, porn stars, and exotic entertainment photographers such as myself. Starting on page 46 of my latest book, Life of an Exotic Entertainment Photographer I describe the difference between burlesque style feature entertainers and the porn star feature entertainers.
I’ve paid over three-thousand dollars to be at the Exotic Dancer Expo.
And now I’m racking my brain. Thinking of other adult photographers or writers who’ve made a similar investment. Coming up with a big fat zero.
But that three thousand dollars will put me on the fast track to my future success as a writer and Exotic Entertainment photographer
I’ve paid over a thousand dollars just to have my own exhibitor’s booth at the Exotic Dancer’s Expo. But I’ve also paid a few hundred dollars to advertise my book, Death on the Wild Wide in Exotic Dancer’s monthly bulletin. I’ve brought Grey Ghost with me so I’m paying for a hotel room for both of us, which costs me between $150 and $200 a night. While paying for our food at the Tropicana Casino and Resort. And for all the alcohol Grey Ghost and I can drink. Not to mention our taking my Dodge Dakota Sport four wheel drive pickup truck. for the 3600 mile round trip to Las Vegas and back.
Grey Ghost has convinced me to buy an expensive pickup bed cover for my four wheel drive. While I have no use for it farming my 560 acres, it’s an essential protective device for all the stuff we’ve loaded for our big outing to the Exotic Dancer Expo. There’s several boxes of advertisements Grey Ghost and I have prepared for the convention. And two desktop computers we are taking to the convention. One for our exhibitor’s booth, the other one for our room. We will need both of them.
Grey Ghost and I become well acquainted with Sam Stimmel and Jim and Anne Marie Hyatt at the 2001 Exotic Dancer Expo, all three of them playing a huge role in my later success as an Exotic Entertainment Photographer
Sam’s the owner of Stimmelator’s in North Webster Indiana. But it’s Jules, one of Sam’s House Dancers who introduces us to Sam in a big way. It is Jules who keeps hanging around our exhibitor’s booth. And it’s Jules who convinces Sam to come up to our room where Grey Ghost is keeping his desktop computer.
It’s here at the Exotic Dancer Expo that Grey Ghost shows off his supreme skill as a salesman and con artist. We get $250 out of Sam for a listing in our Jack Corbett Guide. Which doesn’t even exist. Although it soon will be.
The next night Anne Marie and Jim Hyatt visit us. And Grey Ghost dazzles them with his talent as a web site designer.
“I can do a Pure Talent Agency web site for you in one hour,” Grey Ghost promises the couple. And true to his word he delivers.
Keep in mind that this is in 1998. And that very few web sites existed back then. For the next two years Grey Ghost will be doing the web site for Pure Talent. And I will soon be shooting their Feature Showcases all over the United States.
