Nikon Z 17-28 lens performance in Soi Six’s newest bar

It’s Loy Kraton Thailand’s’ New Year holiday and I’m celebrating at Nymphoz with Mali and my Nikon Z8 with the Nikon Z 17-28 lens.

Tonight is Loy Krathong, Thailand’s New Year holiday. And Pattaya’s crawling with hordes of people. I’m anxious to see what my Nikon Z 17-28 lens can do. Just two weeks ago, I brought my Nikon Z8 camera with the 20 mm 1.8 z lens. But this time I was not all that happy with the way it focused in Pattaya Soi Chaiyapoon’s bars. This lens is faster than the Nikon Z 17-28 2.8 lens and it’s no doubt an even higher quality lens than what I’m using tonight. But my thinking is although the 20 mm lens can focus faster, 1.7 does not allow for much depth of field. Which means in low light Pattaya bars, I don’t have much margin of error.

Mali’s my sidekick. Who agrees with me that we should target two bars that are the most likely to be playing the best music on Soi Six.

Silent Bob’sDJing at Soi SIx’s newest bar, Nymphoz. Which had closed its doors several years ago but has reopened just two weeks ago.

Our second must go to bar is Sweet Bar. Which has a terrific manager who knows his music. Who lets my lady friends choose the music they wish to dance to. Especially Mali. Next on our list is Repent Bar and Smoke and Kisses. But Phang’s taken a day off from Smoke and Kisses, so we decide on Spot Bar and Repent as our other choices for the evening.

The Nikon Z 17-28 lens performs brilliantly.

While Nymphos turns out to be a great selection as our first must go to bar. Nymphos has a dancing pole. And we are having a blast trying it out. The bar also has an entire wall decked out in mirrors which opens up a few creative photography and video options I want to explore in future visits that no other bar I can think of offers. Nymphos also has a large t.v. that’s hooked into YouTube, which is a nice feature for my girlfriends, especially Mali. Who takes her dancing seriously. For example, she watches the performances of other dancers on YouTube while trying her utmost to emulate their dancing styles.
