Soi Chaiyapoon Sober Bar started off on Soi Six in the only Pattaya Soi Six Dancing Queen competition ever.

So, you can expect a brilliant future for Soi Chaiyapoon Sober Bar.

Soi Chaiyapoon Sober Bar got its start at Hot Shots on Soi Six, if not directly, its owner got his inspiration from Hot Shots.

The Soi Chaiyapoon Sober bar owner is German and so is Hot Shots which is a good thing. Because I find that most German owned bars on Soi Six play much better music than other falang owned bars. For the most part. From what I’ve seen and heard more than 50 % of all Bars on Soi Six play that godawful noise I call da da. And I believe the reason is most falang bar owners cave into the whims of their bar girls.

I find that most German owners don’t. For example, Girl Beer bar, which had several German owners played the best music in Naklua. While Soho bar on Soi Six has had the same German owner for 20 years, and he won’t touch that electronic noise garbage with a ten-foot pole. And while Wolfgang who owned Illusions on Soi Six never played any of that crap either. And as for Hot Shots I first met its German owner at Repent Bar at 2 a.m. I had changed the bar’s music to “Dance to the Music” by Sly and the Family Stone. Which had been popular in 1964, sixty years ago. That’s when I met the shot Shots owner. He knew the song, and I was immediately impressed.

After that I started going to Hot Shots. Where I reacquainted myself with Silent Bob, who happens to be English. Who I met for the first time working at Illusions for Wolfgang.

Germans have a tendency to stick together. For example, at times I’ve found Hot Shots to stay open until 3 am. And when I found that most of its customers were Germans. One of them was Ollie, the owner of Soho Bar. I think you can see the connections I’m making here. Silent Bob is a British DJ who worked for Wolfgang, the German owner of Illusions, then he started working for the German owner of Hot Shots. And tonight, I find Silent Bob Djing for Sober Bar which also has a German owner. Who helped me put on the first ever dancing queen competition on Soi Six while he was managing Hot Shots.

Am I trying to say that other falang nationalities don’t play good music in their bars?

No, I’m not. Because to name just one example, the Spot Bar also kept Silent Bob on for its DJ. And the Spot Bar’s owner is a New Zealander and its manager is Irish.

But I will say this. I remember one night in particular when I was overwhelmed by the loud obnoxious electronic music most bars on Soi Six were playing that I said to myself. “I am heading for a German owned by. These Germans won’t put up with this garbage.” So I headed straight down to Illusions where I found Wolfgang.

For the last few months my favorite drinking buddy has been Mali. I think it was last may when Mali and I went into Hot Shots where we found the bar owner there with Marc, the bar manager. I had already conspired with Nikky to have three Pattaya Dancing Queen competitions t Nikky bar. Which was forced to close down last January. Bound. So, I asked Marc if the wanted to have Pattaya Dancing Queen at Hot Shots. Marc didn’t waste a moment to ask the bar’s owner if he wanted to host Pattaya Dancing Queen Iv at Hotshots. A few minutes later, the owner was all smiles as he agreed to host Pattaya Dancing Queen IV at his bar.

And speaking of Mali, most Thai women do not offer really favorable comments about falang bar owners. But Marc tops her list. Her list comprising all bars. And I think the reason is Marc gets the job done and is extremely reliable.

I think same same as her and expect a lot of even better things to be happening at Sober Bar.
